| The moments we shared together,
The feelings that bound us close,
The letters we wrote to each other,
The sweetness was like a rose.
Then it all began to dwindle
Where did our friendship go?
I thought we were sewing seeds of commitment
A camaraderie that would grow.
Now we go our separate ways,
We don’t even say goodbye,
Just let the quietness spread between us,
While letting our friendship die.
Were we true friends, I ask
Did we truly share a friendship bond
Or were we just mere acquaintances
Not looking too far beyond
Just a second, minute, a day at a time
Sharing, communicating, no tomorrow
Borrowing from each other’s treasury of gifts
Until there is nothing left to borrow.
Just a silent winding down.
An unspoken, unemotional goodbye
As though everything we shared
Can be weighed and forgotten with a simple sigh.
Did we really exist,
Or was it just a dream?
